The Children Chapter is my ode to this extraordinary season of life – raising an exceptionally curious little mind and learning right alongside him. This space is rooted in gifted parenting, with all its beauty, intensity and questions. You’ll find reflections, ideas and thoughtfully chosen recommendations to support other families raising children who shine a little differently.

I’m Denise – a stay-at-home mama in the UK, home educating our son and navigating this unique, rewarding journey one day at a time. Before motherhood, my life looked quite different: I was a dispute resolution lawyer with a law degree and a master’s degree in law, qualified both in Malaysia (as an advocate & solicitor) and in the UK (as a solicitor). Originally from Malaysia, I now call the UK home as we raise our family here.
Roman is the bright little spark at the heart of this chapter. I met my husband Mason during the Bar Professional Training Course in London. I went into practice and he followed the academic route. He now lectures in law at a university. You might hear his name now and then; although he works full-time, he’s very much part of the daily rhythm and the choices we make as a family.

Early on, I realised how few resources exist for young gifted children. I often spend hours digging through the internet, searching for high-quality manipulatives, books and ideas to support my son’s learning – and help him thrive with joy and confidence.
Looking for community, I searched for a dedicated space for parents of gifted toddlers – and when I couldn’t find one, I started the Facebook group “Parenting Gifted Toddlers and Preschoolers (1–5 years old)” to help fill that gap and connect with others walking a similar path.
This blog is written for fellow parents, educators, and caregivers who want clear, practical insights – no jargon, no complicated theories, just honest experiences, common-sense ideas and reflections that have worked for our family.
I hope you’ll find something helpful here, whether you’re just starting out or deep in your own chapter. Welcome to mine – The Children Chapter.
Love,
Denise
